A piece of advice...

I sat outside my house this last Saturday receiving fresh air from nature, I saw a vendor passing bye then I decide to get a news paper from him and what I saw gave me a great concern. The headline reads ‘University undergraduate caught with two fresh human heads’. My heart melted like an ice cream and my marrow receive the biggest shock ever…I was so deep in thought of what could have caused this, I asked too many questions which I later realised they were all rhetorical.

I started wondering what life is turning to and what on earth could have pushed this young handsome looking boy into such an evil act. Still in In my state of being flabbergasted, I considered some values and philosophies of life and juxtaposed them with situation of things happening within the human race. Too many question I asked myself about what is the future of the Nigerian youth and what could be the cause of the recession in the moral standard of our youths.

The response I got was that the main cause of the moral decadence of the youth is because of the epileptic nature of the Nigerian economy…well, in a way yes and in many ways I will say no. Yes in the sense that it is true that the economy is not helping situation but in the other way round to be factual, we need to know that no country in the world can completely satisfy the needs of its citizen. Our youth fall into the doom of destruction not just because d economy is bad but because many of them are so lazy to open their eyes to see opportunities and utilise them.

Our youth are so selfish, black minded and too anxious to get quick wealth without being ready to pay the required price which is hard work, they are too engrossed with the goodies of life forgetting the fact that fingers are not equal. They only look at the people better that them using luxury things of life, they do not consider many people they are better than. They never thought of the simple philosophy of life that says “enjoyment in life is a step, never try to climb when u are not close to d starecase”.

It is commonly said that when one is in a hurry, there is every possibility of not getting things done in the right manner. Naturally, it is everyone’s desire to be rich and get the best out of life but we must be ready to pay the dues. We all want to live in a big mansion and go around town with porch cars but there is rule…’’he who does not work must not eat’’.….Also, Proverbs 10:5 (New Living Translation) says “a wise youth harvests in the summer, but one who sleeps during harvest is a disgrace.”

Wealth or riches according to the dictionary is the accumulation of abundance of items but sincerely that is to the black and white paper. In the naturalness of life, the real meaning of riches is the value u attach to yourself. Bishop David Oyedepo (Shiloh 2009) in one of his teachings says “the riches of a man are not in what he has but in who he is and the values he has”. He further explained that whatever wealth u gather today might disappear tomorrow but if your riches are in you then u have no problem because the real you in you will always be able to gather another wealth. There is no doubt that struggle can take u to the top but if you do not have the required values to manage it, it will disappear one day.

Our youth should work towards adding values to themselves and also have it at the back of their mind that fingers are not equal, they should be conversant of the saying that life is about back and front. A man looking at the people at his front using porch cars and lives in mansions complaining to be like them should also look back to see the people who are struggling to be like him. Never allow other people’s riches push you to do things that will negatively affect your future.

I want the Nigerian youth to know that “it is not solely about where you stand but more about how u stand”. Nigeria is not bad because the country is in Nigeria but because of the poor state of mind and negative mentality that nothing works in the country. In more than we can ever imagine, it is good to know that our mind-set controls our life just as the Holy Bible say that “as a man thinketh in his heart so is he”. One of the greatest philosophers says “I will never fail because my mind never fails” Let us stand up for the challenges and keep flying the flag of “Nigeria o ni baje”. Lets open our eyes wide and maximise every opportunities that comes our way

My philosophy is that “life is what you make it to be”, you can never go through the wrong route and get to the right destination. Let’s work hard to play our own part then nature will play its own part too…Think front and back before u act and know that fingers are not equal.

Cheers!

Wisdom of the foolish...

Life they say is a mystery and a lesson, a lesson to those who see it as a place to learn and acquire more skills. It is a lesson to those who will never give up to situation and who does not believe in stagnancy. The lesson behind the mystery of this life is that no man is an island. We are living in the world where one should not depend solely on his/her own understanding alone because one way or the other, we need to learn from other people to help us in our own way to take us to our desired place in life.

There is a fiction that “the wise at times learn more from the foolish” and this has been a mystery to many people over the years. To me, the simple interpretation of this is that some wise men are so foolish and fool of themselves that they always think they know better than every other person around them, the impression they always create is that they are better than everybody especially the people below them in age, rank or position forgetting the fact that “no man is an Island”.

The real nature and meaning of these two saying that “no man is an island” and that “the wise at times learn more from the foolish” never really occurred to me until the day I realized that there is only a very tin line between the wise and the foolish and the tin line is that a wise man easily becomes foolish when he needs to apply his senses in solving a problem and he could not do it and a common foolish man helps him out…It happened last week when I was traveling to Ibadan to sign a business proposal for a contact, it was towards evening and I was driving very fast with the highest speed in order to meet up with the appointment.

The journey was going smoothly on Lagos Ibadan-express way until suddenly after Shagamu when I unavoidably entered into a ditch, the tyre bursted on speed which almost caused a fatal accident, my mind was gone but still managed to stop the car and came out to see how bad, on getting out of the car I realized that the tyre has been damaged beyond adjustment and also realized that the four bolts holding the tyre to the real were all gone. I looked up and down with so much disappointment knowing that even though I have extra tyre where do I get the bolts to fix it with the real to continue my journey? I opened the boot and brought out the extra tyre and how to fix it was now the challenge as it was already getting dark.

I was going up and down the highway looking for where to get a mechanic to help out, making calls to my friends to come see if anything good will come out but nothing came out of it all. As I was moving up and down in dismay, I noticed that a mad man was sitting close to the scene of the accident and was looking at the way I was struggling with the issue; he was laughing and saying all kinds of abusive words to me. The mad man concentration on my side gave me another reason of discomfort when I remember Clifford Orji but never knew he was looking at the foolishness of a wise man.

Suddenly, he stood up and walk towards my side and immediately I saw him coming, I was moving away with style applying a Yoruba adage that says “Ogbón ní àgbàlagbà fi ń sá fú malu” (An elderly man run for a cow stylishly so as not to show their fear). He started calling me names like Òde, Dìdìrìn (Lunatic). All these never bordered me ‘cause of his nature but he now said something that really challenged my senses, he said it in Yoruba that “so u are putting on a tie and u don’t have a common sense to help urself, don’t run for me o, I only want to help u and prove to u that u are a foolish man without senses” he laughed with so much noise exhibiting d normal character of a mad person. When I heared help, I was like what can a mad man offer but still listen to him. After listening to him, I realized that “the foolishness of a mad man has just helped the wisdom of a wise man”

He said u are a fool, u still have three tyres with four bolts in each of them, why not remove one bolt each from the other three tyres to give u another three then use it to fix the extra tyre, at least u can still manage that to move out of this dangerous highway and make sure u reduce ur speed…He said it and moved away dancing and exhibiting the normal characteristics of madness.

As he was going, I was just looking at him with so much surprise that a mad can could give solution to the problem that has almost run down my emotions, then I remember the common saying that “no man is an Island and truly that the wise at times learn more from the foolish”. I did exactly what the mad man suggested, I removed one bolt each from d other three tyres which gave me another three and I used to fix the extra tyre. Wao! I shouted, so a suggestion from a common mad man can actually help save a situation that has taken me hours without solution; I said to myself. I entered my car and drove off, I reduced my speed and I got to Ibadan safely with the help and knowledge of the person I called foolish, a mad man.

This experience opened my eyes to the mystery behind the saying that “NO MAN IS AN ISIAND” and also confirmed what the Bible says in Proverbs 12:15 “A fool thinks he needs no advice but a wise listens to advice”. If u are d type that thinks u are d best in all ways and considers every other people around u as nothing, I believe u have learnt from this story of how the foolishness of a mad man gave solution to the problem of a wise man…Remember “No man is an Island”

Cheers!

The power of focus...

Interestingly, it is good to know that life itself is about focus but filled with distractions here and there. There is nothing that can be achieved in life without being focused because even God was focused in creating the earth. In life, I have noticed that people do have things they want to achieve in different arrears of life but still struggling with those things because they lack focus.
Focus is a point upon which attention, activities etc is directed or concentrated. It has to do with being determined to achieve a goal with full concentration; " a life without a focus is like a man who put his car on the road with no desire to go anywhere".

Many people have no idea of the giant capacity they can immediately command if they focus all of their resources on mastering a single area of their lives…the true and the unchanging meaning of focus is “wherever u find urself, find ur feet by finding ur way to succeed”.

Here is a story to know how far the power of focus can go a long way to help…There lived a man in a village called Iwaya, this man was so rich and at the same time very generous, he helps anybody that comes his way as his believe about live is simplicity. Because of his generousity, the king of the village did not like him because he is a wicked man himself. So, one day out of jealous, the king summons the rich man to his palace and gave him two conditions to punish him. The first condition was to pack from the village and the second was to put an egg in a spoon and run round the palace with it and the egg must not fall off the spoon or else he would be tortured to death. The rich man looked at the two conditions and said to himself he would never run from challenges of life so, he picked the second option.

On the day of the event, the king had put people round the palace to muck and ridicule the rich man in order to distract him. When the rich man got to the scene, he saw people shouting and mucking him but he decided never to allow distractions but rather focus on his way, so he started running and he never looked, listen or allow distractions and finally he finished the race achieving what they thought he could not achieve.

After the whole thing, the king was so surprised that the rich man could escaped his trap and he asked how it was possible for him to have achieved that despite all the distractions around him and the rich man answered and said to the king that “I was able to achieve it because I focused my attention and directed all my concentration on my goal which is to conclude the task with the egg still inside d spoon”.

My people, this is a lesson that FOCUS is as important as life itself and without focus nothing can be achieved. You can not depend on ur actions when ur imagination and concentration is out of focus, life is not about jumping around, its about staying focused. Remember that “Jack of all trade will always be a master of non”...Live a focused live this 2010 and see urself at ur desired level.

Wishing u all a focused year 2010...

Cheers!

Great is thy Faithfulness...

I woke up this morning with Joy in my Heart
I look to my right and to my left
I asked a question…where am I?

I picked my phone beside me on d bed
And I checked d date and I saw its 31st of Dec. 2009
I was still not sure dt my phone wouldn’t lie

I stood up to check d calendar but to my surprise
I saw the same date and that was when I realized that
Indeed God has been so faithful to His promises upon my life (Psalm 91:10)

I couldn’t do anything but burst in2 tears with praise
and worship songs in thanksgiving for keeping me this far
I know it is neither by power nor by me but He that is in me…

God accept my song of thanksgiving…

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Refrain

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Cheers!
